SONNY MELENDREZ RETURNS TO SAN ANTONIO AIRWAVES |
Sonny Melendrez has found a new home: KAHL-AM 1310. It began Monday, March 21st at 6am. The Sonny Melendrez Show debuted on KAHL 1310 Radio in San Antonio. “This is a one of a kind radio station and I am very excited to be doing my kind of positive radio.” he enthused. After months of negotiations, an agreement was met that will gives Melendrez part ownership in the partnership, San Antonio Radio Works, that includes well known broadcaster, John Barger and radio veterans Carl Wigglesworth and Eliza Sonneland. The station features compelling talk by day and nostalgia music by night. Melendrez' show will be a combination of both, along all the fun that has become his trademark. The lineup on KAHL-AM 1310 includes Melendrez 6-9am, Eliza Sonneland 9-12p, followed by San Antonio favorite, George McKenzie 12-3, and Carl Wiggleworth 3-6pm. “Getting to work with a group of San Antonio’s most talented media personalities is like joining a radio Dream Team!”, Melendrez beams. Sonny Melendrez, known for his tireless community service, was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2003 and honored by the City of San Antonio with a West Side community center that bears his name. It is estimated he has raised over 100 million dollars in cash, goods, and services in the last 25 years. Melendrez thanks his countless listeners for their prayers and support during the last several months. “I’ll have one mission every morning from 6am to 9am on KAHL 1310: To make you feel better about being alive and waking up in the greatest city in the world.”

SA Library Foundation Has Books For Babies |
More than 25,000 babies are born in Bexar County every year. Forty five percent of the births in San Antonio are to mothers with less than 12 years of education. Starting from the first day of life, the development of communication skills, language and literacy are significant. All children are born wired for feelings and ready to learn.
With this in mind, San Antonio
Library Foundation will provide every newborn in Bexar County in 2005 with a
Born To Read bag that includes: a Library card application; his or
her very own age-appropriate, bilingual book; and Library branch addresses.
